Monochrome ink drawing of dried maple leaf, with details stippling.

In the early days of working on the mouse series, my wife remarked that brown fall leaves tumbling along the ground in the wind sometimes looked like scurrying mice.

I got an idea for a room full of larger-than-life mice and leaves, a vertiginous, immersive tableau of movement and detail. So! I began work on a leaf series in conjunction with the mice.

This was the third of the leaves, torn and curled maple with a hole through it that allowed for some work with negative space.
